Isla Mackenzie

Isla is a Consultant with passion for optimising efficiency using creative problem solving.

Prior to joining Q5, Isla worked in Russia and Costa Rica as an educator. Her role developed into working in a business development position. Having found her passion for helping businesses grow, Isla began working on small projects for non-profits and founded a branch of a student led consultancy branch (180 Degrees Consulting SOAS). These projects focused on organisational design, marketing, and business development.

Isla graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a MA in Russian Studies and Politics. From this degree, Isla researched issues pertaining to climate change, public policy, Middle Eastern, and African politics. Isla’s undergraduate degree ignited a passion for sustainability and led Isla to pursue a MSc in Global Energy and Climate Policy at SOAS University of London part-time distance learning. Isla is still working on her master’s and hopes to graduate in October 2021 with a dissertation topic focused on Saudi Arabia and Russia’s relationship with climate change.

Since joining Q5 in April 2021, Isla has worked on a number OD (Organisation Design) projects as well as assisting with internal events and working on Q5 think pieces. Previous clients include Balfour Beatty Highways and BSI (British Standards Institute).

Outside of work, Isla spends her time playing the fiddle, painting, and trying to finish master’s degree (with every spare minute she has!). Isla spends most of her weekends exploring different part of London as she is new to the city.
