Our Q5 Foundation allows us to extend our reach, contribution and influence beyond our core consulting business, allows our people to support causes close to their hearts and deliver meaningful impact to the communities around us.
One of our key foundation initiatives, established in 2020 is our Pop Up Advisory service.
Alongside our pro bono consulting service we have supported a number of charities over the years.
As of 2019, Q5’s official charity partner is Think Ahead. Think Ahead is a fast track graduate programme designed to create a new route into mental health social work to attract talented people, strengthen training and spread social approaches to mental health.
Suited & Booted is a charity based in the City of London. Public agencies refer vulnerable, unemployed and low-income men to Suited & Booted, which then helps them get into employment by providing suitable interview clothing donated by companies and professionals. Suited & Booted also offers clients interview advice and mentoring. In their first year, the charity helped about 800 men prepare for their job interview by providing them with a suit, shirt and tie, and accessories.
Spark+Mettle is a charity that helps less privileged young people flourish professionally and gives them more confidence in their personal lives. It was set up in 2011 in response to Government cuts to youth services and offers programmes to build character strengths, people skills and a network of contacts for 18 to 24-year-olds. We have hosted interns via our links, worked with the programme and also provided professional support for the running of Spark+Mettle’s day-to-day operations.
One in four people in the UK are currently living with a mental health condition. MQ: Transforming Mental Health through Research funds scientific research to find ways to better understand, treat and one day prevent mental illness. Q5 has provided advisory support to MQ, which is supported by a global network of leading scientists, and 27 Q5ers took part in the Windsor triathlon to raise money for the charity.
Mental health and wellbeing is an essential topic for Q5 globally and has become an important part of our culture and way of working. Q5ers in our New York office have collaborated with the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City (NAMI NYC) since 2019. This has been a productive relationship for both of us. The NYC team participated in expertly delivered mental health awareness training led by Matt Kudish, NAMI NYC’s Executive Director. We also provided pro bono consulting support and helped revise their three-year strategic plan. We also helped draft an implementation plan.
NAMI NYC serves the New York Metropolitan area and offers support to family, friends, caregivers, and programs and services for people dealing with mental health issues. All programs and services, including classes, support groups, public education events, their hotline, and learning programs are available free of charge to anyone who needs them. They also offer consulting services and training to organizations looking to improve how their leaders and colleagues address mental well-being in the workplace.
