Exploring Q5’s sponsorship of the Press Gazette’s Media Strategy USA Network event

Q5’s Raman Kia and Graham Page joined the inaugural Press Gazette’s Media Strategy USA Network event on 15th November 2023 where Q5 was delighted to be one of the headline sponsors. Hosted in the heart of Manhattan, the event brought together some of America’s most influential executives in the news, media and publishing sectors.

The event kicked off with a fireside chat from Almar Latour (CEO, Dow Jones and Publisher, The Wall Street Journal), who set the scene with a spirited view of how Dow Jones must continue to innovate and deliver great journalism in a challenging market.

This was followed by an all-female CRO panel on New Publisher Revenue Strategies in a Rapidly Changing Media Landscape, including Christine Cook (Bloomberg Media), Pamela Drucker Mann (Condé Nast), Alex MacCallum (The Washington Post) and Lisa Howard (Hearst Magazines). It was inspiring to hear the experiences of these women, all of whom are approaching the monetization of their audiences in innovative and interesting ways that are reducing dependence on cookies and referral platforms.

Raman Kia (Managing Director, Q5 North America) and Graham Page (Q5 Director and Head of Media, Sports and Entertainment) hosted a two-hour deep dive into the 2024 election, exploring the opportunities and risks presented from a predicted spike in media audience numbers on both sides of the Atlantic. We’d like to extend thanks to Jennie Baird (BBC Studios) and Wendy Brundige (CNN) who both brought deep insight to a nuanced debate, positing that the opportunity to capture and monetise new audiences was there for brave media companies. We would also like to thank our moderator, Juliet Scott Croxford (President, Brompton Bicycles NA), for ensuring the conversation allowed for a diverse range of opinions from highly engaged participants to be heard, valued and built upon.

Finally, Jennie, Wendy, Ariscielle Novicio (SVP and Head of Technology, New York Post) and Dominic Ponsford (Editor in Chief, Press Gazette) delved into a discussion on Newsroom innovation, focusing on the transformative impact of GenAI and how it will speed up operations while presenting opportunities and challenges for newsrooms in the months to come.
