The Q5 Foundation 2023 Reflections

A year in review: The Q5 Foundation 2023

As 2023 draws to close, we take time to reflect on the work of our Q5 Foundation. The foundation has had a successful year, helping us to deliver meaningful impact to the communities around us through youth partnerships, research collaborations, charity partnerships, and our pro bono consulting initiative Pop Up Consulting.

This year, through Pop Up Consulting we delivered support to 19 charities and not-for-profits including LLamau, Wildlife Victoria and Generation Aid helping them to solve their challenges ranging from fundraising strategy to organisation design to organisational efficiency. In total since 2020, we have helped 144 organisations, delivered over 4,295 hours of consulting support, with the help of 170 Q5ers. In 2023 we also launched our coaching offer for schools, which is designed to help school leaders address their challenges. We completed our first coaching Pop Up and it was a great success with the participant reporting I’ve been able to achieve a more balanced, productive, and fulfilling approach to both my professional and family life.”

Our youth outreach, which includes our Youth Panel and The Futures Taskforce initiatives, saw 35 Q5ers involved in 2023. The Youth Panel is comprised of 16-18-year-old students who come together four times a year to explore and share perspectives on business challenges and the world of work. This year the Youth Panel ran sessions with a professional, personal and technical focus including career visioning, future workplace expectations, management consulting skills, case studies, and CV support.

The Futures Taskforce brings together students from different universities and disciplines across the UK to explore future megatrends. This year The Futures Taskforce explored the topic of workplace happiness, with different groups researching with a different sector lens, including the retail sector, public sector, infrastructure sector and financial services. One of our highlights of 2023 was the opportunity to work alongside our charity partners. We partnered with CATCH in Leeds, a charity supporting young people to reach their full potential by ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed. Together we raised £15,000 and ran a 6-month Leadership development programme for 20 young people, as well as upskilling CATCH mentors to deliver similar programmes. We are looking forward to beginning 2024 with a new cohort of young adults for the leadership development programme.

We also collaborated on a number of research collaborations throughout the year, including:
