Kate Carmichael

Director; Head of Public and Non-Profit Sector   Global Leadership   UK

Kate Carmichael

Kate leads Q5’s Public and Non-Profit Sectors and is responsible for guiding our portfolio of client work across government, agencies, and not-for-profit organisations. She is a natural problem solver with over 20 years of strategic management and organisation transformation experience.  She joined Q5 in 2016.

As a Sector Lead at Q5, Kate has led complex organisation transformation engagements and our business development efforts with an array of Public Sector and not-for-profit organisations including Home Start, Change Grow Live, the Supreme Court, and a number of Central Government Departments. Prior to that, she led engagements across other sectors including with Centrica, TSB Bank, John Lewis, BT, Selfridges, Shell, The British Medical Journal, Camelot, and Marks & Spencer.

Kate spent the first part of her career in Accenture’s global strategy practice. Prior to joining Q5, she gained an MSc in International Development and worked for the World Bank, Cancer Research UK, and ICMM – the leading organisation for sustainable development in the extractives sector. There, she focused on brokering partnerships between mining company chief executives, government leaders, and civil society organisations to drive better social and economic development outcomes in mineral-rich countries – including in Peru, Zambia, Ghana and South Africa.

Kate loves a challenge whether out in the hills on her road bike, negotiating bedtime with her young daughter, facilitating an exec-level workshop, or teaching kids how to ski!
