The Challenge

A nuclear organisation was launched in 2022, formed by merging several entities into one organisation. They aimed to transition into a single fully integrated legal entity by April 2024, and as part of this underwent a significant organisation-wide transformation and integration. The company requested support to manage the size and scale of their change landscape and dedicated change management support to successfully implement and embed their transformation projects, which involve approximately 1,000 employees.


Our Approach

Q5 provided change and transformation support to deliver their Single Entity objective, which included:

  • Establishing a transformation office (Air Traffic Control) to better understand the change landscape across the new organisation and improve the management of change implementation
  • Gathering data in a central repository and providing insight through a “change dashboard” to inform decision making and ensure the appropriate change support was provided across the business 
  • Reporting on change readiness, planning and implementation to the Executive to help them understand the progress of the transformation initiatives 
  • Providing hands-on change management support across the directorates and for large, high impact systems changes, including: change and communications plans, change impact assessments, stakeholder maps, training plans, benefits tracking

Key Outcomes

  • Established an effective process for controlling and coordinating change across the new organisation (Air Traffic Control)​
  • Enhanced alignment and transparency to enable decisions that ensure change is managed effectively, and implemented successfully​
  • Developed a digital tool for tracking and managing change, including a change dashboard for reporting on the change landscape​
  • Placed a greater focus on the employee experience through people focused change management ​
  • Developed a suite of change documents for the supported directorates and associated change plans– including change impact assessments, comms & engagement plans, and stakeholder maps​
  • Developed internal change management capability through upskilling in change methodology ​
